Benefit Make up - The Gabbi's head pub

So it's World Cup fever around the world (not so much in England due to being knocked out) but those amazing creatives at Benefit make up have insured us ladies aren't without, whilst the men are away watching the games. Introuducing the Gabbi's head, named after their Glambassador, the pub caters for near enough every womans dream. Cocktails, eyebrow waxing and make uppers all under one roof and of course the footy will be on the big screens for us girls to oggle at the fitties on the field. They also offer 10% off all products bought at the pub ;).

Through out the month or so there are themed nights including comedy nights, Bingo night and wine tasting, which is what me and my flatmate Carley went to test out.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I arrived, a pink pub decked out with benefit products and an amazing football chair. The wine tasting it's self was amazing. Themed with Spanish and chilean wines (the match at the time was Spain VS Chile.) We were given wine in a glass on the left and glass on the right and had to taste each, choosing if left or right was the winning goal (favourite wine.) Whilst tasting we were given information about each wine which was really interesting to know, especially as I usually just glug a bottle and not actually think in to the process of how it's made. Once the goals were counted the winning wine was announced and it was a predicted goal for that country. Spain won the most votes which of course wasn't reflected in the game haha.

After that I had my eyebrows done. They did an amazing job and totally understood when I said I wanted to try keep them a bit thicker (doing a Cara Delevingne. We got talking to an amazing lady part of the Benefit crew called Claire. She helped us with products and we had a natter about the up and coming product they're real! push-up liner.

The uniform is ridiculously cute. I want a Benefit jersey :)

The pub is near London’s Covent Garden, 151 Dury Lane, 1st Floor, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 5TD (Above the Price of Wales) from 13th June-13th July, and is open midday till late.  Check out the calendar up above for themed nights throughout the month.

It is worth checking out and popping by for a quick drink if you get the chance ;)

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk

Jean Paul Gaultier is a designer I have admired for years. From being a rebellious child, turning on her tv late at night to watch eurotrash, to the seductive tv adverts for his famous perfume and aftershave 'classique' and 'le male'. There has been something that draws me to Jean Paul as a designer and person.

Known for finding beauty in what society deems ugly, Jean Paul has worked with and placed plus size ladies such as Velvet d'amour, Beth Ditto and Crystal Renn on his catwalk shows. I admire near enough every piece of his work and when I found I could have the chance to look it up close and personal I had to take the chance.

The whole experience of the exhibition for me was incredible. Themed rooms which showed a huge array of detailed costumes and outfits, and holograms on mannequins faces which spoke and gave such funny facial expressions. As freaky as it was it gave the collections life and a personal feel. I managed to see outfits worn by my favourite artists such as Kylie, Madonna and Beth Ditto.

Here's a few pictures from my day:

I would honestly recommend people to go see this exhibition. The work and outfits are absolutely incredible and it gives you the chance to come literally face to face with the items (there isn't any glass blocking you, but of course no touching is still in place.) The exhibition is at the Barbican until 25 August 2014.

Calling all plus size Asos Curve fans

Based in London or visiting this week? Get yourself down to Asos HQ in Camden for their body scanning sessions.

The sessions are between 9am and 8pm (lunch 12:30-1:30) until Friday the 20th. Just turn up, fill in a short questionnaire and away you go to be scanned and measured. You will need close fitting underwear on but I promise no one will see you down to your undies thanks to the lovely soft robes provided (the staff aren't mean either, made me feel completely un judged or conscious.)

The event it's self is to help Asos with their fit. Have you ever recieved an item and it just hasn't fitted, despite ordering in your size? Ever felt disappointed and frustrated in the fit and style of the Curve range? NOW is your chance to contribute and make a impact, with one of the most trend lead plus size high street collections.

'Size ASOS aims to revolutionise your online shopping experience by using the data to inform a truer representation of the modern person's body within product development. The more we understand your needs, the more we can do to meet them – giving you greater choice, better fit and improving your overall satisfaction with everything you order from us.'

The event is in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University and they hope to scan almost 2,500 people over the course of two separate Menswear and Womenswear events, of this their hoping 300 will be curve customers like me and you.

I hear you all thinking, what is in it for me? As part of the event you'll get to visit ASOS HQ, you'll contribute and be part of the biggest body fit session Asos has done, whilst viewing the summer collections and you will walk away with a £5 gift voucher as a thank you!

So all you have to do is make your way to ASOS HQ (near Mornington Crescent tube station), where you'll be greeted by ASOS staff.  The scan uses the latest TC2 Body Scanning Technology and will take over 100 unique measurements, which you then get given the results of your scan to take away and use for any future online shopping.

Of course if you change my mind, Subjects can withdraw at any time from the scan process without reason :)

I for one felt completely comfortable before, during and after the event and am more than happy to help if it means plus size retailers like curve can use the information to not only provide trend led clothing but clothing that fits.

I want : A bomber jacket

As well as everything else, my most wanted currently is a bomber jacket. I'm not sure if it's working with the Anna Scholz bomber jackets that have spurred on my NEED for one, or whether I'm starting to need light, easy to wear and casual jackets for the summer. Either way it's safe to say the bomber jacket is something my wardrobe is yearning after. I've selected a few of my favourites I'm hoping to get my hands on payday.

I can't wait to purchase and to start outfit building with one. I definitely think it's going to make a huge statement with whatever I wear.

#psbloggers meet

So I'm a bit late to the post but the first weekend of May, a few bloggers and myself met up at Westfield Stratford for a day of shopping and food. We chose this shopping mall as it seemed to offer the most choice for plus size shoppers.

After grabbing a morning starbucks our first place to tackle was Forever 21. I led the way to upstairs to the small corner dedicated to forever 21+ but it wasnt there. When I approached someone they said it was behind the tills downstairs.

Upon finding it we could not believe our eyes. The small corner with limited choice spanned over at least 3 wall frames, even displaying clothing on mannequins (something that retailers like New Look don't tend to do in their plus size areas.)

I couldn't believe the choice and options we had in store. I bought a few items but after having them in my wardrobe for 3 weeks and being in two minds to keep them, ended up taking them back.

Being on a limited budget, I now find when shopping I need at least 3/4 different ways to wear an item before I can decide to keep it. Saying that there was no other reason to take the items back. I haven't ever really ordered from the brand, due to not yet having trust with sizing and also with there being such limited choices in store to try. It's safe to say I am now a dedicated Forever 21+ customer and feel more trusting to purchase online (IF I have to of course. I'm hoping they don't, ever decide to minimise the choice in their Stratford store.)

Here's some pictures of the shop and the girls.

Mookie taking centre stage in this piccy ;)

I ADORED this jumpsuit but I just couldn't pair it with anything to dress it down. If it has been all jersey as opposed to Ponte jersey top and silky polyester at the bottom I probably could of got away with dressing it up and down. I'm still searching for the perfect jumpsuit still!

Ended up taking these shorts back. The slits you can see on the right cut in an awkward place that showed my knickers. A little to risky for even my standards.
