What I learnt in 2014

So I could sit here and write paragraph after paragraph reflecting over the last year, but I thought I'd switch it up and reflect on it by jotting down all the life lessons I've learnt.
2014 has been a turbulent year. I've lived a full year with no breaks in between in London. I had my one year work anniversary with Anna Scholz. My blog has grown from strength to strength. My love life took a massive hit in both a sad and happy way (I'm now extremely happy). and I started the year on a ridiculous high thinking life was perfect and I knew what I was doing, to ending it rethinking absolutely everything and realising in reality I'm 23 and I actually know F**k all.

Anyway on to the life lessons learnt:

  • If you've been dating someone for over 5 months and every time you bring up the question 'where is this going?', and you're hit with every excuse going. Including his last ex of 4 years whom he was engaged to, supposedly cheating on him and he's really affected by it. Then end it there. Don't carry on putting up with his lies and games. If he's not that interested in you, he's not. GET RID! Don't waste another 4 months trying to convince yourself it's okay that he treats you this way! You'll end up the one hurt.

  • Sometimes you just have to let someone go without any closure. Because if they were considerate enough to talk through things and allow closure, they probably would have been mature enough to attempt keeping the relationship/friendship healthy and honest.
  • Trust your instincts. They are there for a reason! Trust what it tells you. If it doesn't feel right or 100% don't carry on.
  • Don't be afraid to say yes! Stop saying no and making excuses not to do things. Experience everything you feel comfortable with.

  • Don't miss out on what you want to do, because others don't want to do it with you. Go on your own. Years down the line you'll be happy you saw that band or managed to catch that show, instead of being annoyed you missed out.
  • Try to never put anything else before your family. They'll be the people there years down the line when everyone else leaves.
  • Know your worth. Never think any less of yourself and never question are you good enough! Don't let people walk all over you and let you be their 2nd option!
  • It's okay to be wrong. Don't torture yourself dwelling on it, just try do it right next time.
  • It's okay to outgrow people and surroundings. At 23 you're still learning and young. Don't waste your time on people and situations that don't add value or happiness to your life.
  • You can't please everyone. Just be you and the people that matter will stick.
  • It's okay to be alone, just not okay to surround yourself with people who make you feel lonely.
  • It’s ok to be pretentious every now and again.
  • Remember you're 23. There is plenty of time to achieve your biggest goals. You have no responsibilities so drop everything, travel, see the world, go out on a whim and make mistakes. Do it before time runs out.
  • It's okay if you don't have as many friends as before. As you progress through your 20s, you just won’t have as many friends as you used to. Your friends’ interests may change. Both your interests may change even!
  • Never be afraid to truly express who you are.
  • Life doesn't get any easier. Just roll with the punches and don't get bitter. The world owes you nothing!
  • Passions grow out of your values. Make early, wise choices to value what (and who) is good, trustworthy, and praiseworthy.
  • Stop complaining. Either change your situation, learn to cope, or change your perspective. This is a major life lesson for me!

You may or not relate to this. Tbh you may not even care. I think concluding and reflecting in my case very helpful to deal with things. It's also good to look back and critique yourself on how to be better ( none of us are perfect.)

For 2015 I'm keeping with the same resolution from 2014. Experience 3 new things each month. These can be simple things to trying new food, new places, new anything. I enjoyed doing it throughout 2014, until it slowly ground to a hault. I love exploring, especially living in London. There's constantly something to do or see.

I'm also keeping a memory jar. Each day I will write down something I've done and the date. Even if I only went to work that day (which is hardly the case.) I want to reflect and realise how exciting my life is. Who knows, if there's a few good things, I may reflect on the memory jar New Years Eve 2015 ;).

That Day Fashion

That Day are a new brand sold online and in store at Evans that have hit down and made all the plus size babe hearts flutter. Their stuff is just so lovely, with a touch of vintage and glamour.
They held a competition a few weeks back on their instagram and I was fortunate to win. I got to choose an item from the current collection and the item I had to pick up was their mustard dress. The colour, fit and style are perfect. With a thick pair of tights, some cute ankle boots, it's perfect for winter. The sleeve detail is so lovely to, almost like a tulip shape it covers whilst still revealing some arm. I did size up with this and am glad I did. I think I'd say that's the only issue, but once on it fits like a dream.

As soon as I got it I fell in love. I'm planning to wear it for Christmas day as it's bang on trend but will hide my swollen Christmas dinner filled tummy.

I styled the dress up below:

So I teamed the dress up with the following items:

This colour is lovely and deep. It's not too overpowering but matches well with the mustard colour

Everyone just wants to stroke the furry coat :P

These are really comfy and so versatile.

Sadly the item sold out so I'm glad I picked it up just in time for Christmas.

Have you picked up any items from That day? I'd recommend this dress in a heart beat.

Bloggers Love Hub - Umberto Giannini

I attended a bloggers love event a few weeks back. After meaning to attend a few of their events I finally got the chance to go and see what it was all about. Unfortunatly, which is no fault of the event there were no plus size fashion options. This was made up though by there being make and beauty up, jewellery and hair product stands. I have some make up and skin products that I'm also going to blog about, but the one product I've constantly used since is from Umberto Giannini Glam hair range.

The amazing duo at the stand asked what my hair woes were at first. These were that my hair was fly away and frizzy after drying. The gentleman asked if I used product already on my hair. I use plenty of Moroccan Argan oil on it which I thought not only nourishes the hair but styled it too. I was fascinated to find that it actually had no styling properties, hence why my hair is strong and healthy but is fly away after drying.

He recommended I use their Glam Hair Sex Bomb Massive Mouse and mix my argan oil in with it. When drying my hair the mouse would style and allow my hair to non frizz, whilst giving it some texture and volume. And the Argan oil would still nourish and keep my hair health. I was sceptical at first, but nether the less tried it out the next time I washed my hair and the difference was incredible.

I'm so thankful for the product because I can rock some glam hair tonight at my works Christmas do ;).

Before shot: Hair washed and conditioned with herbal essences. Argan oil applied and blow dried.

Hair washed and conditioned with herbal essences again, but applied the mouse and argan oil mix to damp hair.

After : Blow dried and unstraightened. Hair is styled, non frizz, sleek and shiny.

The Final Look : Straightened and hairsprayed. So much more volume, no frizz and it stayed perfect all day, even in the cold windy conditions outside.

This product has a HUGE thumbs up. It'll definitely be something I re purchase. There's lots of other products in the range. If you have any woes or not sure what will work I've included all the  Umberto Giannini social media links below. I'm sure if you tweet them they'll be able to offer amazing advice to solve your hair problems :)

Curvy Kate: The Daily boost & Strapless Luxe Bras

So you may have read in my previous post about my time at the Curvy Kate event. I was gifted the daily boost bra at the event (also had a fitting too) and as soon as I put it on I felt like I had new boobs (that I couldn't stop touching all night btw ;).) They instantly lifted and afterwards I had comments not only on how pert my boobs were but also how it'd looked like I had lost weight (my waist is small so this bra just helped define it more.) I also had the chance to purchase the new Strapless Luxe bra and some smoothie high rise knickers. All sorted on the lingerie front and so impressed with the fit and look of all the bits, I just had to strip down and blog, to spread the curvy kate word.

First of all: The Daily Boost (paired with Smoothie high rise knickers.)

Cute little bow detailing. I also love the grey contrast around the edge.

Second of all: The Strapless Luxe Bra

Excuse the grumpy looking face, I'm sure I was going for dominatrix/sex face ha!?
My boobs are supported and still pert. I've struggled for years for a strapless bra for a big cup, that'll actually support and this is doing the job. I even jumped up and down and they stayed in the cup and supported.

A little hard to see, but the button detailing in the middle of the cups is uber cute.

Thick back band. It's so secure and comfy.

The band is tight and I had to pull it around BUT when on it doesn't feel restricting. I can breath, dance, bend up and down. Let's say I can complete the essential tasks haha. This is definitely the right size for me, I just think as it's strapless the band needs to give support, so it has to have a tighter elastic in than usual so don't be put off if you try this!
