The perfect birthday suprise

I was approached by Baker Days to review one of their cakes. When I first got the request I couldn't think of any reason or occasion I would need a cake delivered to my front door (yes I hear you, a fat girl actually questioning why someone would want to send her cake and right on her door step.) Well I thought long and hard and thought it would make an amazing present for my brother. With his 21st coming up and due to commitments I wasn't able to get home for it, so I asked the amazing staff at Baker Days would it be okay to send to him it.

I sent off the cake design I wanted along with the images and the text, and within about a day they had confirmed the cake. I then received an email to confirm it was being sent and the very next day my mum called to say it had arrived. The whole process was the most easiest, stress free experience I have ever had. I can not praise the company enough for how efficient they were.

Both my mum and brother were over the moon when it was revealed at the party. My brother even shred a tear and couldn't be thankful enough for such a special personal present. When I was sent the pictures, I really couldn't believe my eyes at how professional and amazing it looked either. Everyone at the party commented and all thought the idea was ingenious.

The cakes are priced from £14.99 and they allow you to fully custom the text and some of the images. They also do Cupcakes too ;)

I can't recommend Baker days enough, especially if your looking for that one off special present for a loved one.

Here's pictures of my brothers cake:

entitlement - Mic's little rant

Entitlement

Now this post is either going to be taken in a negative or positive way, I suppose you can say like marmite.  Your either gunna love it or hate it.

Now blogging for me is something that I chose to do as a confidence boost for myself. I like to think I have style and love to not only style and encourage myself to push myself out my fashion comfort zone but others too. My main sole purpose was to upload pictures of my outfits and hope at least I have some sort of inspiration to others.  It’s nowhere near a career option or something I could imagine doing full time.  I have been incredibly lucky to be invited to some events and gifted a few items but I am nowhere near in the same league as others who work so hard on their blogs. And guess what that’s fine.

Now my pictures are taken on my iphone, I purchase every single item I wear and I can completely understand why brands probably don’t look at me twice to sell their product. I don’t take it personally and don’t stamp my feet like a child when others are fortunate to be given amazing opportunities, because really deep down I’m happy to see the plus size community being part of what is a huge movement in the fashion and plus size industry. It’s nice to see people I admire and like to call friends contribute to the industry that I work with in and a industry I put A LOT of money in to (my wardrobes breaking with how many clothes I’ve bought due to seeing actual plus size ladies wearing the items ;).)

I can’t help but see and notice how others try and tarnish others opportunities and the only reason I can come up with is this STUPID idea that people have called entitlement.

‘why do others get certain opportunities?’ ‘why haven’t I been chosen?’ ‘why have they been chosen.’ ‘I’m going to be really mature and start to troll because my computer screen will protect me.’

Honestly GET A GRIP. Whether you've been blogging since before this HUGE movement in the plus size industry, whether you've just posted your first post last week, we are all as entitled to each other to the opportunities brands hand out, BUT If you don’t fit their profiling or their image, YOU WILL NOT BE CHOSEN, SIMPLE!  It comes down to how the brand wants to be perceived and looked at.

I get that it’s disappointing if you try to get noticed and don’t but honestly keep at it. If you’re being given opportunities with one brand and not the other, just be thankful that you've been given that once chance to shine.

I’m not sure if there’s an aim to this post, or whether I've just got sick of people moaning their not chosen to have their picture taken or to be sent free stuff.

As much as I know people are in it to gain the freebies, blogging should be about having fun and just contributing a little bit to an amazing industry. I've met the most amazing people from it and I don’t think I’d have been able to move to London the first time without meeting people through my blog.

Anyway even if this get’s through to one person, just lighten up and get on. If you've not been chosen for something don’t take it to heart. Just think of the amazing friends and people surrounding you and your blog and blog about your most fabulous outfit ;). let the disappointment spur you on to do better. who know's you may get chosen for something at another point.  The plus size community is probably the most encouraging and loving community, even more so than my own family. It is honestly a shame to see such shit and negativity all because people feel their entitled to rule the roost. Get off the throne you've put yourself on and look at it like this, we're all in the same situation ultimately so just back off, calm down after your temper tantrum and even if it's fake smile or comment just smile and bloody wave boys (yes Madagascar penguins come in handy.)

If I've offended I'm sorry, but I suppose my blogs my little way to rant without being confined to 140 characters and have my friends on facebook not have an actual clue what I'm talking about.

#bgomeetup

I’m not one to turn down the opportunity to meet new people and learn a new skill so when james from Joe Blogs Network invited me #bgomeetup, I took a gamble literally and headed to their head office.

Greeted with a glass of prosecco and a name badge, I was handed £30 of vouchers to exchange for chips to play at the roulette and black jack tables.

I bumped into Leighanne from Bump and beyond and we had a bit of a natter over what some may say too many glasses of prosecco, before we headed to gamble our money away ;).

Beginners luck really is a thing because by the time it came to the end I had doubled my money. If only I played with real money (one can wish.)

With a fuzzy head it was a delight to see the mountain of domino’s pizza arrive to soak up the bubbles. It also gave the perfect opportunity to mingle and take selfies with a life size cut out of Verne Troyer (mini me) and the inflatable dinosaur. We sat at a booth with the lovely Alice of Bblogger and Haydn of squibbvicious

There was also the opportunity to play the Jungle Trouble slot game with all the winnings on the night went to the the World Wildlife Foundation! Unfortunately I didn't get chance to play :(.

So upset I didn't get the chance to win him :(

Smiles all round

inviting me. Sorry the post is a little later than planned but thank you for an amazing night and to all the staff members who ensured not only mine and Leighanne’s glasses were topped up but who made it a fun and exciting night.
