Plus sized wars

So after last night’s viewing and publicity surrounding plus sized wars on Channel 4 I felt I had to blog and voice my opinion.

Boo-hoo Plus - how to style a plain black sleeveless waistcoat

I've been uming and arghing over this waistcoat for a while, and had previously posted it in my list of boohoo wants. On a whim I decided to go for it and I’ve not regretted it since. With the weather being so nice as it is, this waistcoat lets me layer up without having to suffer with the heat.

Elvi - The skirt of dreams

I was lucky to be gifted this incredible Maxi skirt from the brand Elvi. If you’ve never heard of the plus size brand then you should check them out. They produce high quality on trend fashion in sizes UK 14-26.

My Motivation - One step at a time

You may have or may not have seen (if you follow my instagram you would have,) but I've recently decided to join the gym. Loving my body and the size I am, this decision had no intent for me to change any of that. As I'm sure people know (let’s be honest it’s not been a secret) the last few months for me have been difficult to say the least. I spent 9 months infatuated with a person who not only lead me to believe we were together, but who I found out cheated and lied throughout our time together. I jumped in to a relationship straight after with someone who was willing to take as much as he could from me (I stopped it before he could do too much damage,) and along with that my living situation was a little rough around the edges and the majority of my friends in London slowly started to move away. I hate to sit to wallow in self-pity, but the last few months had changed me physically and mentally for the worst.

nothing to wear

“When a woman says, ‘I have nothing to wear!’, what she really means is, ‘There’s nothing here for who I’m supposed to be today.”
― Caitlin Moran, How to Be a Woman

You're a Wizard Harry

I’m not the biggest Harry Potter fan (or so I thought), but I have read all the books and seen all the movies (that counts for something right?) Anyway, after living in London for over a year and a half, me and mum finally decided to take a trip and visit the Warner Brothers Studio Tour in Watford. Mum had holiday to use and we’d both wanted to go to see behind the scenes of films that shaped my childhood and my mum’s adulthood.

I’d already spent the weekend with mum. We’d managed to get to Brick Lane and she spotted this camel over sized coat on a rack in a vintage shop. No questions asked, she bought it for me as a present for staying and that was that. I’d been after a camel coat, and even though this isn't the exact thing I wanted, I still love it none the less.

Anyway on to Harry Potter. The tour really was incredible. Everything looked soo small compared to what we see on the screen, but to be stood in the middle of the main hall and realising that the scenes I love were shot here was incredible. Me and mum took advantage of being able to ride on a broom (in front of a green screen, just like how they filmed the scenes in the film.)  We also got to learn how to use a wand the right way and I managed to be a part of Diagon Alley.  I tried knocking for Harry at number 4 Privet Drive but alas no one answered :(. We managed to take 5 and grab a Butter beer ( sadly not to my taste.) The whole thing was so magical; it really made me want to watch the films over and over again. It also really made me realise how much I missed the whole crew and story line. Sadly when me and mum went, platform 9 ¾ and the Hogwarts Express weren't open. Just means we have to go again ;).

We both had such a magical day and I loved getting to spend time with my mum. I really didn’t realise how much Harry Potter had influenced my childhood and I’ll forever be thankful to JK  Rowling for imagining the idea of Harry and bringing the book to life.

Knock! knock! Harry come out to playy

Yes I'm trying to drive away with this. My ass would not fit in the side car :')

Have you been to the Studios? As well as trying to get back to see the Hogwarts express, I really want to visit the Harry Potter world in Orlando. I'm a little Potter Obsessed it seems.

Black is the new Black - Khloe Kardashain inspo

Black will always be a go to colour for me as a foundation to an outfit, but I very rarely wear head to toe black. I leave this in the trusty hands of my best friend Octavia. With my new sophisticated style I decided to fully dress in black. I teamed this sleeveless turtle neck crop top with a maxi skirt with slits at either side. I also took some inspiration from Khloe Kardashian. She is most definitely my favorite sister. Honestly if we knew it each other I think we'd be best friends (in your dreams Mic.)

To say I felt fierce is an understatement. I love how clothes can make you feel and give you strength and confidence. I love the side slits up the skirt. they are so seductive, I can just show off a little leg by posing, but then hide them away :p.  I feel like calling this outfit sophisticated goth? (without offending anyone.)

I just can't wait to rock this outfit on my next big night out, maybe with a brighter lip and chunky bracelets?

#HeresWhatIWouldHaveSpent Asos

I love Asos Curve and It's definitely not a secret to anyone. Premier is a god send as it gives me the convenience to receive things next day so I never have to wait too long to wear my bits.

As much as the curve range is pretty good atm. There are a few bits in the main range I'd love to get my hands on. I chose 7 lucky looks (let's hope the luck rubs off and we see things like this in the Curve range soon) for Debz challenge #HeresWhatIWouldHaveSpent

Gothic glam. Thumbs up from me

2. Barbie Print Crop jumper

Moschino, eat ya heart out. I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world.

3. Print Pencil Dress

5. Geo Print Maxi Dress

This would be perfect for my holiday

6. Acid Flower Print Shift Dress

7. Palm Print Fringed Bomber Jacket

These other babes have completed the challenge too. Look at what they would have spent through these links:

#psblogger love

Todays challenge I'm participating in is #psbloggerlove. There's been a bit of a negative shift (if that's what you'd call it?) in the blogoshpere and the wonderful Debz created this idea of spreading the love among one another. Inspired by the likes of #youarefab today is about communicating positively and just sharing our fond memories among as amazing Plus Size bloggers. For this post I was given a blogger whom I had to write all the things I love about and the memories we share.

I was given the lovely Sarah of Plus size proudNow what can I say about Sarah? Other than she's an absolutely incredible person. I love following her instagram, twitter and blog. She's such a positive person and just has so much fun, never taking herself too seriously. The type of person I love to surround myself with and hang out with (silly distance keeping us apart haha.)

I have such fond memories of her from Plus North last year (2014), including her suggesting buying paracetamol among the copious amounts of alcohol I was purchasing for the night ahead. The motherly instincts in her coming out to ensure I had no headache the next day hahaha ;).

The one thing I find so lovely is also her friendship with Hannah of Fabulouslyfatfashion. It's so lovely to see friendships like that form between us, and both these girlies gave me such a laugh at Plus North.

I enjoy her ever changing hair colours and styles, especially her amazing collection of wigs :p I completely admire her as she will be shaving her hair off for Mind on 11th April 2015. You can donate by clicking the Just Giving link here. I really urge people to donate to such an amazing cause.

I just genuinely enjoy Sarah's company and her fun love attitude towards life. She doesn't let anything stop her, I just hope when I'm her age I'm still rocking the plus size industry and blogger community like she is haha.

RND15

Tk maxx team up with Red Nose Day and a Fashion designer/designers every year to create the official charity t shirts. In the past the likes of Vivienne Westwood to Stella McCartney have all contributed designs to be sold to raise money. This year 5 designers ( Karl Lagerfeld, Diane Von Furstenberg, Anya Hindmarch, Henry Holland and Matthew Williamson) have all contributed an idea to a t shirt. Some have used famous quotes, others have designed prints that are unique but signature to their brands.  I purchased two over the weekend and I love them.

I went for the Henry holland polka dot t shirt and the Anya hindmarch quote t shirt. You may or may not know but i am a HUGE girls fan, so when I saw this quote on the Henry Holland T shirt, I knew it HAD to be mine. I also am fond of a Oscar Wilde quote and Anya Hindmarch's t was completely spot on for me.

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture in my Anya Hindmarch T (purchased in a XXL so it's incredibly baggy), but I'm wearing a XL in the Henry Holland tee below.

It's not too late to rush and get a T-shirt or even donate to this amazing cause. Whatever you are doing today, Text FUNNY to 70011 to donate £1.

Kinky Khaki - Kim K outfit inspo

So recently I am all over the Kardashians/Jenners looks. Minimal, colour blocked and so easy to wear, I really think these sisters are setting the mark high. I was inspired by Kim specifically with this look. Some may say she’s getting it so wrong in the style stakes, and if I’m honest I’d never let a man dictate what I could or couldn't wear. But I think it’s clear to say Kim has connections in high places only some of us could dream of having, and I for one am extremely jealous of that alone.

You may have noticed I love my clothes tight and structured most of the time, so I can show off my shape (yes even the wobbly bits some try to hide.) I’m not one to hide anything away really, but I usually try to dress in bright colours and prints thinking this will get me noticed. I loveee how this look is just colour blocked in muted tones, but still gives me the same desired effect. Girls, my top tip is don't be afraid to wear a turtle neck, get ya arms and legs out and wear a tight midi skirt. The world honestly isn't going to end. Flaunt those curves and your amazing bodies :).

I’m definitely at a place with my style that I feel like I’m maturing. I feel like I’m shying away from my usual’s and experimenting a bit more with style, fit and quality. I think I’m finding that less is actually more in that sense.

Anyway I felt inspired and pretty darn sexy with this outfit, and I don’t even care that my VBL is showing :p.

Missguided + Wish List

So you could say I'm very much inspired by the likes of Kim K, Khloe K or Bey with this want list. I'm starting to notice the change in my choices of clothing recently. I'm very much going a bit hip and minimal haha.

Again these looks are pretty simple, apart from the hint of check and camo. I love how I  can build these looks together by adding some basics to them to create multiple outfits.

The statement clutches are pretty much my favourite lil sayings atm (I just need 'I woke up like this' on a bag and we're complete.)

Payday can not get here quick enough. Missguided is being hard;).

2.FLAWLESS Clutch

3.Khaki Trousers

4.Check Maxi Shirt

5. Check Tie Skirt

6. Model Name T-shirt

boo hoo - it's not pay day just yet :(

So it's that awkward time in the month where you've been out constantly, you've purchased a big food shop, picked up a few must have pieces on pay day. and your bank balance is now sadly looking bleak for the rest of the month. Yes we all get to that stage :( (unlimited money source please find me soon.)

To stop me feeling so sad I've done a want list from a few of my favourite Plus size retailers atm. You may notice through the next few blog posts, colour and print have gone far far away. I believe I've got all tonal and minimal (The Kardashian influence for sure.)

Here's my first list of wants from BOOHOO:

1. Black T shirt Dress

2. Sleeveless waistcoat

8. Long Sleeve plunge body

Star In A Bra

Sooo you could say this post does exactly what it says in the title (or the tin, you get the jist).

This is your chance to become a star in a bra for those uber babes at Curvy Kate.

So you may or may not know about Curvy Kate. (hopefully the latter, see my post here on how great they are,) and if you haven't well this creative and lovely lot design AMAZING lingerie and  swimwear that looks amazing on a wide range of figures and sizes.

And of course who wouldn't want models who represent all shapes and sizes of women.

The brand quotes:

'With the public outcry for the use of more realistic images in the media, the Star in a Bra competition champions the use of customer role models and promotes a positive approach to body image, which all women can relate to. Known for their use of non-professional models, the brand show their fans exactly how their lingerie will look and fit on a variety of body shapes, cementing the message there isn’t one type of ‘perfect body’. All sizes, ages, frames and heights are encouraged to enter as the brand continues to celebrate the beauty of all women.'

and I for one couldn't agree more.

All of the models you see in their brochures are discovered through their annual Star in a Bra competition and they’re chosen by YOU the public. After entries close, the voting is put in the hands of us curvy kate fanatics which decides who you think should be the face and body of the brand.

So this is your chance ladies, Get your kit off and bare all, and who knows you could win. The lucky winner will join the brand’s curvy line up at their summer shoot, enjoy an all-expense paid trip to the Mediterranean for two with £1000 spending money and also be awarded a year-long modelling contract with Bridge Models Limited.

The entry stage launched January 5th on Starinabra.com . Department store giants Debenhams,  Beales and Evans are backing the curve-search by hosting a two week roadshow around the UK. Participating stores including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bournemouth and Gateshead, will hold in-store events with live models, a themed photo pod and bra fittings (roadshow dates are below.) Hopefully I'll get to see some of you at the London event on the 12th Feb.

The Curvy Kate team will also be joined by Cosmopolitan ‘Catwalk to Curvy’ columnist Laura Puddy, Bridge  Models and the body-loving Self Esteem Team, who will help choose a top 25 before the competition is decided by a public vote.

You can get more info at www.starinabra.comand also enter on the site HERE . The deadline for all entries is FEB 15th 2015 so get ya skates on.

Roadshow Dates:

Bon Marche - The David Emanuel Collection

I was gifted this lovely dress from Bonmarché over the holidays. The dress is from an exclusive collection designed by David Emanuel. The David Emanuel collection is full of fashionable styles that Flatter and shape all body shapes, and is full of gorgeous patterns and colours.

This elegant floral print dress is perfect for day or night, work or play. The side pleat detail flatters my figure perfectly. I often struggle with dress lengths due to my height but this hit at the right spot. I also love the length of the sleeves. I dressed this dress up with a duster jacket and my favourite shoes right now from New Look. I also matched a pink lipstick with the pink within the dress.

I didn’t put any jewellery
on as the dress has a keyhole detail at the neckline with a gold decorative piece. This alone just sets the dress off and means you don’t really need to wear much else with it.

Have any of you purchased from this collection?

Taking Shape - The dream Jumpsuit

I was gifted this amazing jumpsuit from Taking Shape over the holidays. I was aiming to try wear it for New Years but in a rush packing the night before having to leave for Wales, I'd left it on a hanger behind my door. Safe to say I was devastated.

I fell in love with this jumpsuit the moment I put it on to try it. The fabric and fit are lovely. I sized up to the biggest size and could have done with sizing down. I do like how loose it fits though.

There's a handy popper that allows you to open to put on, then close so the wrap doesn't expose.

I styled it with a old necklace from H&M and my new favourite pair of shoes from New Look. I'm off for drinks over the weekend so this is my go to piece to wear.

I made the look casual for day time with my bargain Bomber Jacket from the Cut for Evans collection.

Grab your coat Mic ;) hahahaa

Curvy Kate

I was invited along to Curvy Kates SS15 preview last week and I could not say no to a night of boobs, babes and bottles (of wine?) BBB. Get it? lol
Held at the incredible Canvas Café just off Brick Lane (urge you to go if you are in the area), we were greeted by the amazing Curvy Kate team,  lots of models in lingerie and the most amazing wine, food and company.
I managed to see lots of babes including my girls Lucie, Abi and Katie. I also managed to see the lovely Leah, Mayah, Hanna and the gorgeous superstar model Olivia (she’s a uber babe ;) )
We were let in to a secret that they were going to announce a big surprise at the event, and we all had our suspicions as to what it’ll be. I did hear murmurs that they were going to release some sex toys, but when they let the cat out the bag, it was revealed they are releasing a new brand that’s sexier and sultry than ever.
Scantilly is a raunchy brand that offers something a little bit sexier and revealing. The first release is this retro leopard print combo. Everything about it is amazing. As soon as the model walked out, my mouth dropped. It has a hint of Betty Page and mistress about it ;). It’ll be making its way in to my wardrobe if I’m honest.
After the announcement some ladies we fitted and we were generously gifted a bra each. I picked the daily boost which I will be blogging about soon (little secret – it’s incredible.) I managed to pick up their trusty £1 pants too ;) which have had the seal of approval from the man friend.

I've ordered the Luxe strapless bra too which will be heading to my house in January, so another post will be up.
As mentioned the venue was amazing. The walls filled with questions and all different people’s answers. I managed to answer a few. I think the idea is incredible, especially if you can legally graffiti. I’m in! haha

I think it’s fair to say Curvy Kate are my new favourite lingerie brand. Look out for their new SS15 pieces, as well as the new Scantilly.

Here's some pics below:

Lovely introduction and welcome :)
