Living for the weekend

So this week has been a crazyyyyyy one. Never been so busy so I thought a round up would be in order. I'll post through out the week but let's start with Thursday.

As you may know Mon - Thursday I'm interning with the Inspire team at New Look Head Office. The placement is currently going amazing.  Never did I think I'd enjoy having to get up at 6.30am but right now it's going fab and I'm loving all the things I'm learning.

Anyway back to the point! THURSDAY

Top - New Look
Jacket - New Look
Trousers - Asos Curve
Shoes - Primark
Bag - New Look
Necklace - New Look

So thursday I was invited to the Marisota S/S 13 event. A chance to indulge in a spa treatment whilst looking at clothes (my idea of heaven.) I met up with Sharon before so we weren't walking in alone. We were greeted by members of the team and offered Starbucks and nibbles. We had a quick glance at the clothes but were whisked away for our treatments. I opted for a much needed de stressing massage whilst Sharon went for a manicure (the colour she chose was so nice.) The massage was incredibly relaxing. I felt like a lot of weight had been lifted off my shoulders and Ive found the back ache and the terrible headaches I've been getting lately have vanished over the weekend.

The collection was impressive, grouped in colours, it looked like a clothing rainbow. The prints were colourful, playful and bold. I especially loved the floral print on the bomber jacket. The swimsuits really caught my eye, giving a really 50's feel to the shape and patterns.

The event it's self was great. I'm keeping my eye out for the polka dot midi.

I then was fortunate to go to the launch party for Danielle Vaniers 'Seven Sisters' new social opera series. The location was amazing ( Islington metalworks.) I couldn't stay as long as I'd have loved to due to having to meet one of my best friends at Paddington station but it was great to see so many familiar faces. Download the app (search Seven Sisters) and watch the drama unfold. The concept is really interesting and clever. I'm hooked!

At paddington (a little bit tipsy may I add) Octavia and I scoffed down burritos and then made our way back to heres for a huge catch up (don't ever leave me for 3 weeks again.)

I had thee best nights sleep, much needed after a busy day.

Will update on the rest of the weekend this week

All of the collection is available from The Marisota website

New Look Inspire Placement

So I have no images today (there's a first for everything) but this post is a quick update on me.

There's no secret to what industry I want to work in. From as young as I can remember fashion (more sewing in the younger years) has been a part of my life. My nana, one of my biggest inspirations in life, used to work in the factories sewing up in Durham and all my life I have been surrounded by, whilst experimenting with (to obviously find my own style) lasting fashion trends, fads and continuous knitting, sewing and making.

I've always been imaginative and creative, a positive remark made on every school report. When it came to options for Gcse's Art and Textiles were obvious choices. This spurred a choice to take Fashion & clothing at college. Through working out my strengths and weaknesses during the different modules, and wanting to chose an enjoyable career choice I moved on to fashion promotion in uni. It's no secret I didn't really get on with uni. I'm not sure whether the continuous leap from school, college, uni did it, or whether the restraints and the happenings that went on affected me too much to want to enjoy it, either way upon graduation I knew I had to pick up the pieces, make some money and gain the vital experience I needed to make me stand out in the crowd of thousands of other graduates in my field.

As you know I was fortunate to be taken on as an intern at Anna Scholz. The three months their inspired me more than words. To meet someone I had looked up to, talking to me and encouraging me. The placement was amazing and I've never been so sad to leave a place from being there such a short amount of time.

I also managed to be involved with the British Plus size fashion weekend, which again inspired me to reach my goals and never give up. It was a much needed push to get my toes in the door ( hopefully my whole foot will be wedged in soon.)

I'm now an intern within New Look Head office, specifically the inspire team. A placement I've been sorting after since working with the brand instore (Team 1932 WOO) from 2009. Timing must have something to do with it because after 3 years of trying last year I was lucky enough to be placed with the team for 3 months.
 starting April '13)

I've been here now for roughly three weeks and although the days are intense and busy, the experience and work is brilliant. The team are all friendly and welcoming. I feel I've adjusted and feel a lot more independent and knowledgeable with what I want to pursue career wise and what goes on within the retail world/environment.
Like I said no pictures today (don't want to suprise or give the collections away haha) but this was intended as just a quick update on what's going on in my world.

With the long hours I don't get chance to really get home to do much (in through the door , hollyoaks, tea, shower, tv and social media catch up then sleep. my typical day.) Admittedly it's more the commute that takes it out of me (Oxford street rush hour GRR :@), and I haven't had chance to post much with the spare time I have had, but I have bought (despite being on a spending ban - EPIC FAIL) some new goodies to post about and schedule.

Hope you haven't missed me too much

Wants for the week

SO after three months of constant shopping (Mainly Asos orders to be honest) I've decided enough is enough for the month of April. I need to start wearing what's been bought so I'm on a spending ban. This obviously doesn't mean I can't window shop ;).

The only rules to the spending ban are if the item is needed i.e new knickers, or haven't got any leggings. The other rule is if something is extremely cheap in a sale i.e £30 jumper for £3, no one in their right mind would let that go.

So this week there's a few items I have my eye on. I'm just hoping they'll stay around long enough to purchase in May

Fy daith yn ôl i gymru

So after three months of not going home I decided to make the trip back to the homeland to see my family and friends.

A short affair, I could not go back without a mental night out to Newport ( coincidentally this night was the launch night of my best friends boyfriends bands album. Mouth full!! ha)

I had literally 48 hours in which to squash all my visits in and to have an amazing time, so all systems were go the moment I got off the coach.

My girls has arranged a suprise for when I got off by making a huge banner and greeting me balloons and cupcakes. Not sure what I've done to have such amazing friends.

The next day I went for an over due dinner date with my best friend Sara-Jane to Harvester. Three courses down I was truly stuffed. 4 hours late gossiping it was time to get ready for the antics ahead.

Of course I had to watch Wales (obviously win) against England whilst getting ready.

I chose to wear my ASOS CURVE bodycon dress in dobby mesh. I teamed this with my New Look necklace, seen in my earlier post.

I felt confident and sassy and ready to show Newport what it (obviously) had been missing ;).

Here's some pictures from the weekend:

To finish the weekend off I went for breakfast with my mum ( suffering doesn't sum it up - Hangover from hell) and I visited my dad. My influence is clearing rubbing off on my little sister who got (glitter) tattoos like her big sis ;). Clearly an influence my parents hope doesn't rub off when she gets older.

Brick Lane Sunday

My best friend Sara-Jane came to visit over the weekend (the first out of all my girls.) Being a photographer I took her on a tour of Brick Lane and Camden so she could photograph for her final major.

I loved every moment of her being here. Me and Sara have been friends for about 5 years and I have too many good and fond memories with this girl. Together for life now we have our matching tattoos.

The day it's self was freezing but we ate the amazing burritos from Brick Lane food market and drank lots of coffee. We even tried creme egg brownies (which I surprisingly DIDN'T take pictures of.) I already have ordered the ingredients to repeat these ;)

Lichtenstein Tate modern

This exhibition is one I've been excited for since I heard it was coming. Lichtenstein is renowned for his works based on comic strips and advertising imagery, coloured with his signature hand-painted Benday dots.

An artist that has inspired me since I was a teenager, I took the opportunity to see his work face to face.

Showing at the Tate Modern from 21 February – 27 May 2013, priced £14. This exhibition is one I would suggest everyone, even those who aren't inspired by his work, goes to see.

Famous pieces such as Wham! and pieces of work you wouldn't of even thought Lichtenstein has created are on view over 13 different themed rooms.
